Field Trip to a Greenhouse
The calendar says spring is here but all I can see outside my windows is snow. Thankfully, the daylight is increasing dramatically, the squirrels are practicing acrobats in the trees, and the piles of snow are shrinking. However, I still needed to see green plants and pretty flowers. My daughter felt the same way, so we set off to a local greenhouse.

The municipality of Anchorage has a couple of greenhouses where they grow plants for landscaping throughout the city, as well as a tropical greenhouse open to the public. It also has an aviary and a fishpond.
The diversity of all the plants and flowers makes me marvel at the creativity of God. He is amazing!
My daughter and I got our flower fix, and we even scored several free Dahlia bulbs they were giving away. I love Dahlias so I was excited. Now I need to learn how to grow them.
My question for you is, what is it like where you live? What’s your favorite spring plant or flower? I’d love to see pictures of your neck of the woods in spring. 😊

The Weight of it All We have received over eight feet of snow so far this season! I know that is not a lot for some places in the world, but for our neck of the woods, it’s the most ever officially recorded. The snow evaporates and compacts down, so we don’t have that...
Lunging at a Lynx
Lunging at a Lynx Lunging at a lynx wasn’t the smartest thing I’ve ever done. In fact, now would be a good time to state officially that you should never approach wildlife, especially one that has just caught its dinner and wants to chow down. The problem was that its...
